Craig McBain has served as a visionary technology leader for over 20 years. As an Instructional Technology Coordinator and now Director of Technology he has been instrumental in the effective integration of technology in one of the state's largest school districts. Mr. McBain has helped to oversee the implementation of district technology from its first internet and email access through the implementation of 21st Century Classrooms district-wide. Through all of this change the focus of technology has remained student learning and teaching.
Mr. McBain is a technology innovator. He is continually trying the latest and greatest operating system, web tool or software to see where it fits into our district. His leadership has brought cloud storage and Office programs to over 18,000 students and staff through Office 365. He has helped teachers get hands-on with their students through interactive whiteboards in every classroom K-12.
Mr. McBain is also a role model. He is continually exploring new technology to find effective tools. He uses these tools in his daily work with staff, modeling their usefulness. He provides practical examples on the users’ level to help them find ways to integrate technology, resulting in training that meets the needs of his users. Providing technology in the largest school district receiving the lowest foundation grant is a challenge. Through careful planning and adopting innovative methods Mr. McBain has helped ensure that Chippewa Valley Schools is a leader in educational technology. His efforts have helped to create and maintain an equitable environment for students throughout the 22 building district. He has also provided high quality professional development for teachers to support the technology available.
In essence, Mr. McBain integrates his background in education with his knowledge of technology to create an environment where technology is valued, supported, and used to enhance teaching and learning.
